Synopsis: Now a Jedi knight, Luke Skywalker plans to rescue his companion Hans Solo from Jabba, who has him frozen, with the aid of Princess Leia, C-P30, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. Although captured, he and they ultimately escape and destroy Jabba. The evil Emperor is having a huge Death Star built, supervised by Darth Vader. As his friends make plans with the Rebel Alliance, Luke returns to his old teacher Yoda, who confirms that Darth Vader is Luke's father. He also learns that Leia is his twin sister, who may have the potential powers of a Jedi. Yoda dies, and Luke travels with Leia, Hans and other rebels to Endor in a mission to destroy the deflector-shield installation there that protects the Death Star. However, Darth Vader feels the presence of Luke, who allows himself to be captured in order to try and turn his father away from the "dark side". The Rebel fleet attacks just before the deflector shield is destroyed, and finds itself under attack from the Death Star which has become fully operational. Luke is brought before the Emperor who tries to corrupt him, and he is goaded into fighting Darth Vader. However, he recovers his self-control and does not kill him, which infuriates the Emperor who turns his power on him. At the sight of his son being killed, Darth destroys the Emperor, but at the cost of his own life. With the help of the Ewoks on Endor, Leia and Hans accomplish their mission and General Calrissian blows up the death star. Hans and Leia come to a romantic understanding, and are reunited with Luke during the Ewok celebrations on Endor.
